A Good Wig Is Hard to Find

My major complication with the Hell Girl costume was finding an appropriate wig that was in my almost non-existent price range. The first one I got was from Hot Top and had a few red braids in it, but it was only $8, so I figured I could pull out the braids. Easier said than done. My second wig, the one I wore for Halloween, was a Cher-esque number called the "I Got You Babe" wig. It was $14 and looked, at least in the bag, like it was the perfect wig. It turned out to be stringy and, for some reason, grew curly as the night wore on, which was an issue on account of my accepting invites to two Halloween parties on two different nights. Plus, I should add that I look hideous with long hair.

Regardless, the Hell Girl costume was a success, if only for the fact that many people I know well did not recognize me and I had to spend most of the night explaining to people Ai/Hell Girl's back story. The bonus of this was getting to say "Perhaps, it is time to die" repeatedly.

Perhaps It Is Time To Die

Carlos' 1970s surfer costume was a smash hit. His costumes always are (like the yodeler and Metal Alf).

Chuckie Don't Surf

Last night, I thought of a costume for the two of us for next year. It's the best tag-team costume ever, better than the Trollson Twin idea I had last year that never came to fruition. It's going to happen.

Friday night, we drove out to some warehouse-type space in what was either Huntington Park or Vernon for the Droid/Darkmatter/etc. megabash. It was a good time, despite being exceptionally crowded. Next time I'll remember to bring earplugs if I plan to see Eustachian play.

Saturday was our friend Juan's post-Halloween house party.

There were some amazing costumes, which you can see on Flickr. Below is a small selection.
